Bloody Cult Clash Averts Arrest Of Gay Partners In Abeokuta

Fear has gripped residence of Abeokuta area of Ogun state due to the recent cult rivalry clash between students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. Two suspected cult groups have gone on rampage in the last one week killing four persons in the process.

The killings which took place at different points in the Oluwo and Adigbe, Pansheke areas of Abeokuta had four people killed. It was gathered that the killings were fallout of a supremacy battle, which broke out two weeks ago among suspected members of Eiye and Buccaneer confraternities in the area.

It was learnt that one Muraina Ibrahim, popularly called Elebe of ND II, Computer Engineering Department, was killed last Wednesday along the popular sap route while another ND II student of Mass Communication Department, simply identified as Demola, was killed last Saturday around MacJob in the Fowobi area of Abeokuta while the identities of the other two is yet to be established  but one of them was reportedly killed at the Mango area of Oluwo also on Saturday while the other was killed at Iyana Oloke.

Meanwhile, the institution's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sulaiman Adebiyi, said he heard that two people were killed, but cannot ascertain if they were students of the institution. He said eight students of the institution have been arrested by the police over the killings, but described many of the arrests as arbitrary.

It will be recalled that there was a similar bloody rivalry cult clash on Valentine’s Day. The secret cult rivals had started attacking themselves from the institution premises before taking to the streets killing one person at the Pansheke area of the state.

The same Eiye and Buccaneer confraternities were the two cult rivals at war. A yet to be confirmed report is that the person killed was amongst the onlookers watching the mob action against two gay partners that were exposed at a guest house also in the area.

The gay partners identified as Mubashir Yusuf and Kola were caught in the gay act by Mubashir’s ex- wife, Fausat in Panseke area.

Fausat was said to have regularly visited her friend in Pansheke and had always noticed her ex-husband's car parked by a guest house in the said neighborhood. Coupled with the fact that she has also been suspicious of her ex-husband's involvement in gay activities and felt it was also the reason for her bareness.

She had claimed to have seen Mubashir kissed and hugged fellow men in the past and that was why she put in extra efforts to expose him by spying on him anytime she sees his car parked by the guest house since she was still bitter about their divorce.

According to information, on 14th of February, 2015,Fausat, Mubashir’s ex wife spotted him entering a guest house and she cleverly pretended to be visiting a guest in there but  went after Mubashir to spy on him and when she caught him red-handed with his partner, she raised alarm and quickly mobilized a mob action.           `.

The gay partners were dragged outside the guest house into the main Pansheke road and were already being lynched. But for providence, police arrest was averted.

According to an eyewitness reports, there was pandemonium when suspected group cult rivals from the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic had engaged in a rival clash from MAPOLY and had taken to the streets of Pansheke in a gun battle.

“We were all gathered here to watch how two men who were caught in gay activities where being dragged and beaten by some thugs when the Eiye and Buccaneers started their fight and started shooting at each other. Everybody had to scamper for safety, even the mob attacking the gay partners dispersed to void stray bullets from the sporadic exchange of gun fire from the cultists at loggerheads. The gay partners were very lucky because police would have arrested them if not for the cult clash.” Eye witness narrated.

When the Police Division was contacted on their effort at curbing the incessant cult rivalry attack, an officer who craved anonymity said serious effort is ongoing to end cultism, adding that some students in connection with cult activities have been apprehended.
