Armed Robbers, Murderers Apprehended



The Police operatives attached to the Anti Kidnapping Unit of the Zone 2 Command, Lagos state have arrested eight (8) suspected armed robbers at various locations within Lagos State for robbing innocent Nigerians of their earnings, killing a night guard at Amuwo Odofin and breaking warehouses at various locations in Lagos State.

The Officer in Charge of the unit who got an intelligent report on the criminal activities of the suspected armed robbery syndicate on August 23, 2016 that they were planning to embark on a robbery operation at Ikotun area of Lagos State, swung into action with his operatives and arrested four (4) members of the gang that specializes in armed robbery, truck hijacking, truck diversion and warehouses robbery in Lagos and some parts of Ogun State.

During interrogation of the arrested four, the operatives were able get information of some of their members still at large and an additional four (4) members of the gang were arrested. Two of them are receivers of stolen goods.

Folakeinvestigates gathered that the suspects had carried out a robbery operation at Ajao Estate, opposite Eleganza Plaza, Lagos on May28, 2016 where a night guard on duty was killed and Aluminum Sheets worth twenty two million naira (#22,000,000) carted away causing untold hardship to many innocent Nigerians.

The suspects are, Aniete Akonnah, Promise Friday, Happiness Promise, Obi Ebong, Silas Effiong, Monday Udoh, Ifedinachukwu Iwuola (Receiver) and Sumaila (Receiver).

Items recovered from them include consumable goods such as Geisha, Tin Tomatoes, Maggi (seasoning), Motorcycles and spear parts, sockets and chains etc.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command Lagos, AIG Abdulmajid Ali has condemned the acts of this syndicate and directed that the suspects be thoroughly investigated and their weapons recovered without delay. Meanwhile, the suspects have been charged to court this morning while police investigation continues.
