Greece gets new IMF Resident Representative

Mr. Dennis Botman has been appointed the IMF’s Senior Resident Representative in Greece and will start his assignment on September 2, 2016. He replaces Mr. Wes McGrew, who is returning to headquarters at the end of a normal three-year rotation assignment, which ends this month.
“Mr. Botman, a Dutch national, has been with the IMF since 2002. He has previously worked in the Asia and Pacific Department—as the deputy chief on Japan as well as the IMF's Resident Representative in the Philippines—the Economic Modeling Division in the Research Department, and the Fiscal Affairs Department. He participated in numerous missions, including in Europe (e.g. Germany, UK), and his research covers a variety of topics, including general equilibrium modeling, financial crises, and speculative attacks, aging and social security reform in Europe and Japan, and public finance. He holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
